Dog cake recipes are usually fairly simple and they only require the kind of basic kitchenware you normally have in your kitchen. You don’t have to be a great cook to make a birthday cake for your dog. The recipes aren’t difficult, and the ingredients aren’t exotic. Mix the dry ingredients, mix the wet ingredients and mix them together in a well-greased pan. Remember to turn the oven on and that’s about it. It doesn’t even take very long to bake them.

Muffin & Frosting Recipes:
Muffins:
• 2 cups shredded carrots
• 3 eggs
• 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
• 2 tsp cinnamon
• 1/2 cup rolled oats
• 3 cups whole wheat flour
Preheat oven to 350° F. Lightly spray cups of muffin tins. In a large bowl stir together the carrots, eggs and applesauce. Set aside. In another medium bowl whisk together the cinnamon, oats and flour. Carefully mix in the dry ingredients. Stir until completely mixed. Spoon the muffin mixture into the greased cups or tins. The dough will be thick, so you may wet your fingers to press the dough into place. The dog cupcake will not rise very much, so do not worry about over filling the muffin tin. Bake for 25 minutes. Cool completely on a wire rack before frosting or serving.
Frosting:
• 8 oz low fat cream cheese, softened
• 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
Blend both ingredients with a hand mixer until well blended. Spread with the utensil of your choice, or spoon into a pastry bag for easy decorating.
Storing: These dog cupcakes will keep fresh in your refrigerator for 2 weeks. They can also be frozen for as much as 2 months. If you are going to freeze them through, wait to decorate or frost until they have thawed.
Grade level increases to 5.8 when the recipe is removed.
